Hard to believe it, but the year 2010 draws to a close this evening! It has been an incredibly busy year for MusicEdMajor.net, and I wanted to take this opportunity to recap some of the posts and pages that have been the most popular over the course of the last twelve months: [Read more...]

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow (Monday, October 11th), from noon to 5:00 pm EST, you can follow along with all the action from the SoundTree room of the first METOS (Music Edcuation Technology Online Summit) here at MusicEdMajor.net! Join Us for METOS 2010!

We have posted extensively here about the effect that attending conferences can have on both our preparation/development and our enthusiasm/attitude. We have also extensively covered conferences online through live-blogging over the course of the last year. However, on Monday, October 11, thanks to SoundTree, the online world and the world of conferences combine! [Read more...]

A Busy October!

Hey all! A few exciting announcements about where MusicEdMajor.net will be headed as we move into the month of October:

New Contributor – Sari Feinstein

We have spent a good amount of time on the site discussing tips and tricks for being a Music Education Major, either at the undergraduate or graduate level. There have even been some teaching tips and thoughts posted for those who have finished their degrees. However, an area of the music education “lifespan” that we have yet to touch upon is the preparations for music school. To help us explore these ideas, I have added another regular contributor to our gang – Sari Feinstein. [Read more...]

Happy Birthday Andy!

Just a short post to wish Andy Z. a very happy 22nd birthday!

I’ve gotten to know Andy over the past four or five months through blogging and this site. He is a great guy and a great teacher whose contributions to music education as an undergrad are truly astonishing. In just the past year, his contributions were many including the startup of #MusEdChat and the development of MusicEdMajor.Net. In addition he has been on the launch team of Dr. Pisano’s MusicPLN.Org. All of these projects serve to help the common music educator (or music education major) to be better at what they do.

Happy Birthday Andy, and thanks for all you do for music education!

Feel free to leave Andy your own birthday wish with a comment!

Happy Birthday!

Happy BirthdayWhile on a Skype Call with my dynamic and enthusiastic co-editor Andy Ritenour, I noticed that today is a very special day in MusicEdMajor.net’s life. Today marks MusiscEdMajor.net’s first birthday! That’s right, it was one year ago today that I launched the site and welcomed everyone with the first post. Back then, I was scrambling to get things in order for my live-blog of MENC’s Music Education Week. Now? Well, things aren’t much different now, and we’re still getting ready to cover Music Ed Week (stay tuned for more info soon!). Over the course of the year, however, we’ve had some great milestones: [Read more...]
